Our First Adventure Race as a Team..ALL GIRLS TEAM

It was tough yet we had so much FUN doing all the obstacles

it was indeed a test of patient/endurance/love for adventure

despite we did not won the RACE

the best part , was that we had each others side having so much FUN

we learned a lot from the RACE...until next RACE...WATCHOUT because we will be aiming for GOLD>>hehehe....

Conquering Mt Talinis with a Smile

             When i was a kid, we had this very cute calendar with nice pictures of hills,mountains , lakes , beaches or beautiful places of  our country. It was like a dream came true  when i conquer Mt Talinis.

           We took advantage of the long weekend holidays to have our first 2 nights & 3 days climb as newbies of COAT.  The preparation for the climb was not that easy for we have to sacrifice our weekend breaks to trek to BABAG to prepare ourselves for Mt Talinis. As for that, we are very thankful indeed with the practice climbs, for Mt Talinis was a piece of cake.

 

DAY ONE : Aug 25, Saturday

         We had to go down to the boat at 4:30 AM to eat breakfast and buy last minute goods or some vegetables at the market for our climb.  Jake & Opao contact a  jeepney to transport us  from Dumaguete City to Dauin    (JUMP-OFF POINT)

        THE FIRST DAY was exciting yet the most daring part of the climb.  I would consider it as the most hard part, for majority part was all assault and foggy. Plus our load was heavier compare to later  days.

 

Lake Yagumyum ( Lunch )

After almost four hours of trek,  at last we arrived at Lake Yagumyum for Lunch. We were so blessed that day when a group of trekkers gave their extra cooked lunch to us. Yummy grilled pork plus lumpia was a fiesta,it was perfect to replenish our body for the next trek.

 Deer Face Ridge

Right after  Lunch, we went back to our trek   and at this point, it was more tough  for  it was more higher. The Deer Face Ridge was an amazing  trail for its Tree Roots Trail.  We need to climb along or across/above or under some big roots. 

There was a very nice view  there, that could  catch   your  attention.  At some point ,  I Thank God for giving me a chance to witness such beauty.

 

 

 Nailig Lake (First CAMP site)

       Then, after  three hours of trek along the Deer Face Ridge we arrived at  Nailig Lake ( our first campsite) A Perfect lake, to served as a prize for our whole day trek.   We set our tents there, cooked yummy dinner and some chitchatz with fellow climbers.

DAY  TWO - Aug 26, Sunday

Second day was much better, for it was much easier . 

It was just like a walk in a park^_^

Kaipuhan Sulfur vent (Sulfuric river)

       Our President told us not to stay long near the sulfuric river but we just cannot resist the enchanting beauty of the river. The unique landscape, dead trees were perfect for picture taking and  cover photos for FB.

       Right after a funny photo shoot at the Sulfuric River we went to Nagabi Ranch  for Lunch. Then , we had the whole afternoon to rest , relax and enjoy. The afternoon was a  right moment for our masters to render the corny jokes and silly yet funny stories. 

        Then, as we love to sleep that afternoon we decided to bathe at the cold spring to avoid colder water in the evening. I think i just bath for less than 3minutes for i cannot stand the cold water.

        After the bathing session with my friends, we  joined the corny talk sessions with our masters.

   It was almost dark , then we prepare for dinner. THE ODONG CARBONARA of Master Chef Yahman plus yummy pork shop was perfect to full our tummy.

        Right after dinner we gathered around, we had our chance to share our learning and insights for the two days climb. Then, we went back to the silly stories and corny jokes plus dancing that night.

 

 

DAY 3 - Aug 27, Monday 

The third day was equally amazing with the last two days 

 Mag-aso Falls 

      One is enough but TWO FALLS was better. Maybe about 100 meters away  we saw the bigger fall but as we went closer we were surprising amaze with its twin fall. The two falls were different  but both had their own unique beauty.

      As much as we want to stay long, we need to pack-up for we have a boat to catch.

    Dear Mt Talinis, i will  be dreaming  of  your  enchanting beauty . I Cannot wait for my next visit.

    Thank You Lord for the HAPPY climb and keeping us SAFE. Further, for bringing us home safe and overwhelmed.

August 24, Friday - Departure from Cebu to Dumaguete (Ferry Boat)

Day 1 - Aug 25, Saturday
6:00 AM - ETD for Dauin, Magsaysay
8:00 AM - ETA Dauin, Magsaysay (Start of trek, load trail H2O)
11:30 AM - ETA Lake Yagumyum ( Lunch )
12:30 NN - Resume trek, assault to Deer Face Ridge
2:00 PM - ETA Deer face ridge (Rest)
5:00 PM - ETA Nailig Lake (set up camp, etc)
7:00 PM - Dinner, socials
10:00 PM - Lights off

DAY 2 - Aug 26, Sunday
6:00 AM - Wake up call, prepare breakfast, etc
9:00 AM - ETD for Kaipuhan Sulfur vent (Sulfuric river)
12:00 NN - ETA Kaipuhan ( lunch )
1:30 PM - ETD for Nagabi Ranch ( Ranchohan)
2:30 PM - ETA Nagabi Ranch ( set up camp, etc )

NOTE:

• Last potable water source for day 1 will be @ Magsaysay jump off. there will be no other potable water source going to Lake Nailig.
• Expect rain along the trail, be sure to bring your rain gear.
• Expect all lunch for the 3 days climb will be on trail, be sure to include your packed lunch during breakfast preparation.
• Do not stay long in the Sulfuric River area. Noxious fumes can cause nausea & vomiting. 
• Be cautious along the trail coz the entire route is well vegetated & rich in flora & fauna.
• Practice LNT principles

A Paradise we called "KALANGGAMAN ISLET"

April 07-08 , 2012

Kalanggaman is an islet paradise with a land area of about two hectares situated between north of Cebu and Leyte.    

                     

 It is part of the town of Palompon, Leyte, it is about 45 minutes ride by boat either from Palompon or Villaba,Leyte. 

And in our case it is about two hours from Bogo City, Cebu 

What makes this island unique?

it has  two sand bars, one which protrudes towards the east and the other at the southern end. The eastern sand bar extends for maybe about a 150 meters into the sea and the other one is a half as long when high tide

Number of visitors are controlled maybe because the local government of Palompon see the importance of protecting the island against great damage or abuse and also to maintain the serenity of the island. We thank God that we were given a chance to visit the islanddesptie the fully booked paradise. Thanks to our ever diligent and accommodating boatman who assisted us. 

THE PARLOR GAMES

Mario and  I had this corny parlor games to boost the group and at least the group did cooperate to make the activities more fun. It was so funny to watch crazy people who played the games  like there is a million pesos worth of price for the played the ass off to bit other teams

DISCOVERING THE ISLET WITH A TWIST 

Noon time ....THE ANGRY sun did not stop us to tour around the island..  THE HEAT  of the sun was perfect to make the short trekking more challenging and tiring...plus HUNGER GAMES inspired mood..that we literally want to eat anything .

 

God is really good to give us a fine & beautiful day ..plus the great moon to light the night

 

THE DRINKING SESSION & THE CRAZY DRUNK GAMES

Fun tequila drinking session ...with a brain twisting games

 Connecting song with Jaykee as your seatmate or  i can say "was a suicide" cause you cannot connect the lyrics out of Jaykee words , causing you to drink trice as the group did...for JAYKEE"s invited songs..are out of the ordinary....^_^

 Memory game was the most brain rolling game i ever had when im drunk^_^

...it was a game of memory ..a test of madness..haha ..indeed it was super fun..two THUMBS UP for Anthon who had introduced that cute game to us...

 28-29 JUNE 2012 COAT Trek

 Babag Via Roseville Trail

Another trek with the famous mountaineering group of Cebu^_^

As I live each day..i came to realized how lucky   I am to be surrounded with great people inside and  out...

I really love trekking other than scuba diving or running which i also both enjoy doing

trekking gave me lot of reasons to enjoy, reflect on the beauty of God's Creation

RAIN or SHINE we still SMILE 

days before our trek  NEWS TV already warned us that there was a storm coming

Yet , with us who were very excited to have a trek..Rain or Shine we still continued our planned trek that day

with the motto ofcourse "SAFETY FIRST'  so did  trek ala Roosevelle trail for safety yet daring trek for beginners.

Walking under the rain was not bad at all. 

It reminded me of  my childhood crazes like playing under the rain. 

The trek was Cool yet Hot at the same time 

^_^ COOL for the weather  was cold yet comfortably enjoyable and ^0^ HOT for the trails were challenging with cute obstacles along our ways( balancing skill,muscle coordination are highly needed to survive) hahah.

the wind can feel how we enjoy such fun & trill

Liezel & I came to know this group somewhat like a destiny^_^weeeh....we both love outdoor adventures despite our lame attitudes, non-athletic personalities

but,I guess the group itself made us became more enthusiastic  in loving & protecting mother earth.

Master Chef OPAO & YAHMAN...

at first we were not sure if they really know what they we're doing...It was like drunk men trying to cook food ,then we were SURPRISED^_^ hehehe the UDONG Carbonara was really super YUMMY..two thumbs up for our Master Chef of the Night,...hehehe weird yet funny indeed to know they can really cook..hahaha

I t was a unique dish and on top of my list  that i would probably try to cook at home

AFTER DINNER

.... it is all about socializing 

   .... we are social climbers  that's what they called it

SOCIALIZING was the activity....and  drinking with the team was part of it

It was my first time to drink TANDUAY...real TANDUAY 65

before i thought TANDUAY are just for LOLOs.. yet the group enjoyed it including me

I think the conversations, the teasing blast the night

I do drink but i guess it is not my forte, cant really stand 3 shots or more of the TANDUAY

Been missing the tequilla that much while looking at them, made me think to include tequilla in my list to bring when climbing^_^ whaha

Indeed, it was a blast day with COAT celebrating their 12 years of camaraderie,passion for love of nature and adventures..

At first, i was kinna intimated to come for a newbie ...but COAT would not allow you "as newbie" to feel that you are left behind  or your new or different/...its like we been friends for so long  that we could tease each others like best friends

First, we met at the South Bus terminal  "Assembly time 6:30AM, departure Time 7:00PM" hehehe..yet we are what we are "we departed at around 7:45AM...positive side of it we were able to talked to each other to make-up with the time..we laughed about some jokes^_^ i mingled  to my fellow newbies..make new acquaintances and friends

It was my first duo Adventure Race and as Ferdie "THE STRONGMAN" as man partner was really challenging... i would admit that i was really anxious for the race... because i really hate running despite my background....hehehe

but thanks to Ferdie for opening-up -to just ENJOY the whole race...

so BYE BYE Pressure..hello to ADVENTURE^_^

I think Ferdie and I were so blessed that day ..cause we won the race..TEAM FREEDOM... wheepeee...with no pressure in our shoulders while doing the challenges...it was indeed a great feeling to won..but the best part  was the fun we experience throughout the race...

Being able to give your 100%plus  in every station would be an additional factor to won the RACE..we did not just play the race with speed & power..but we play the RACE with PASSION & BRAIN..whahaha...

but i really love how fun it was to compete with equally lovable , fun and amazing people like COAT members^_^ 2nd place Team Laspag (Gwen and Jeff), then  3rd Team No Name (Pipot and Wing2x)...and to all players^_^

My Goal that night: was not to sleep for me to catch the First Ceres Trip

but it turned out to > I DON'T like to Sleep Cause I dont like to Missed the Fun ^_^ what kept  me awake  that night was the fun BATIBOT craze song and dance... it was indeed a performance night for crazy dancers and singers...

PLUS....

...“Revenge Against the Maoy band" with their invisible instruments.... watching them would make you laugh until  you drop                 

......All the morning the night activities....

equals to.....awake until 4am... best time to wait for the bus for the Ceres 1st Trip..

weeepeee im ON TIME for my 7AM appointment..

i was wishing i could stay until sunday..but call of duty^_^ hehehe^_^

MT MANUNGGAL CLEAN-UP 101

The historical Mountain where the late President Ramon Magsaysay died  'cause of plane crash

Together with my MMT friends we went to Mt Manunggal to clean ^_^ last 25 March 2012.

Funny to say  that we're there to clean ..we're there for a cause...which is to help Mother Earth

 the whole experience was fun and fulling..

it is so fun to do activities with some of your closest friends 

and bonus part  is your doing  a noble job...which is to help mother earth

 i just wish  people who messed up/threw their waste/ garbage at Mt Manunngal be banned from partying there

It was so sad to realized how bad  people were  upon witnessing the trash on the ground like alcoholic

It was so sad to know how   irresponsible  people to just left their garbage after partying there

But, looking at the bright side..im so amazed with the people behind the clean-up activity with the leadership of Boss Ramon  for keeping their hearts,commitment and dedication to clean  and help Mt Manunnggal  maintain its beauty for the past 7 years

 the do salute those devoted volunteers who help 

            the looking forward for less trash next year or  ZERO TRASH ^_^
